Carolyn's Kids is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization created to meet the financial and supplementary needs of elementary aged students in high poverty school communities. These students may experience needs in paying for school supplies, uniforms, coats, school activity fees, etc. Carolyn's Kids goal is to provide these supports to students in grades Pre-K-8th, in hopes to enhance their academic, social, and emotional growth ...their way of "Helping Children Move Right Along."
Inspired and founded by Carolyn Griffin Palmer, the Carolyn's Kids Foundation (CKF) is a manifestation of years working with children through teaching, coaching and mentoring in and across the Chicagoland area. Together, Carolyn with her daughters, LaCael Palmer-Pratt and Karilyn Palmer-Paschal, created this organization to be a blessing to others. Due to school districts budget cuts, there is a decrease in opportunities for students, as well as funding for supporting low income students. When funding is available, elementary aged students are often overlooked for additional resources. Carolyn's Kids believes that no child should be left behind.
Field trips provide students with a window to the real world that they don’t get in the classroom. Students can generate ideas for future careers and volunteer work, ideas and opportunities when they travel outside their own neighborhoods. As a result of participation, students retain more knowledge, and awaken the desire in a child to try new things and begin to spark new interests and passions. We believe that no child should miss out on the opportunity due to funding. Students participating in activities outside the classroom help build a well-rounded individual. Every child is unique and born with a talent, through programs students have the opportunity to find their niche, learn leadership and teamwork skills, and develop as individuals. Carolyn’s Kids will act as a resource for school communities but referring reliable sources, programs, etc. to schools. Also, where needed assist with funding or supplies for programming to take place in the school/community.
Carolyn’s Kids Foundation will provide scholarships for students and adults to continue their education. For more information on our scholarship opportunities, please click the scholarships tab.
The Cool Store was created as a reinforcement for positive behavior. When Founder Carolyn Griffin Palmer was a principal, each school had a special room where students were able to shop. Students earned character bucks and would visit the "Cool Store" to purchase fun items such as sweets, school supplies, hats/gloves, and of course toys. Carolyn's Kids Foundation will partner with schools that are interested in hosting a Cool Store. Contact us if interested and indicate the following: school name, principal name, school address email address, grades serviced, and how many students attend your school.
